Who's the overall better group/band?? Now before you answer, don't just pick your favorite, but pick who is the better group and tell why you think they are better...

Tony Toni Tone's memorable hits = Anniversary, Little Walter, Thinking Of You, If I Had No Loot, Whatever You Want, The Blues etc.

Jodeci's memorable hits = Cry For You, Stay, Love U 4 Life, Come & Talk To Me, Feenin, Get On Up etc.

I honestly can't decide but I'm leaning towards the Tonyies just because they were able to create uptempo and ballad hits unlike Jodeci, their albums were more listenable from intro to outro rather than Jodeci's where the uptempos were weak, and The Tonyies had more diverse lyrics than Jodeci did as well as each member was a instrumentalist/songwriter/producer.

But on the other had Jodeci were waaaay better vocally, and their ballads were outta this world. Also their songs were more memorable and had a bigger influence on the R&B game than the Tonyies.

Who are you siding with and why??

It's a matter of personal taste; for me it's Tony, Toni, Tone because their songs hit on point everytime. They have great ballads and dance songs as well like "Let's Get Down". My favorite, one you forgot to list, is "Whatever You Want"; this cut gets the ladies AND gents singing!!

I never got into Jodeci too much but Come & Talk To me is one of my favorite songs. I don't know about them having "bigger influence" on the R&B game; one of the guys from the group might've produced a song or two, but Raaphael Saadiq wrote and produces for many artists like D'Angelo and Erykah Badu.

The Tonies hands down.

Great question. These are two powerhouse r&b groups from the nineties so a comparison is definitely warranted.

I agree with your statement when you say TTT was more consistently diverse i.e. uptempo and slow tempo mix quality. However, I found alot of their ballad songs not to my liking - other than Anniversary and It Never Rains in Southern California. They were better on the uptempo tracks like The Blues, If I Had No Loot, Get Down etc...I don't particularly like their first album but I liked every Jodeci album, although The Show, The Hotel, The After Party was somewhat inconsistent. And one of my fav Jodeci tracks was uptempo - Lets Go Through the Motions, so they had the ability to do it. But they definitely stuck to ballads and mid tempo tracks.

I'm going to side with Jodeci on the strength of their album Diary of a Mad Band, which I believe is one of the top albums of the 90's. Nevertheless, I love TTT and they make my top 5 artists of the 90's without question.

Tony Toni Tone all the way. They paved the way for groups like Jodeci, and their songs are still just as good today. They also had a unique sound (thanks mostly to Raphael Saddiq) and their harmonies were always on point!
